Tongue and groove

With 50 years of experience, our dedication to producing the finest is seen in every detail

The best material and our great craftsmanship, ensures you with a 30 year warranty. It certainly has already been shown that the quality and design are some of our hallmarks. When you decide to invest in a product from SPEKVA you can be sure that every little detail has been carefully selected, inspected and manufactured by hand.

We place great emphasis on craftsmanship and for decades have used a special method to join wood staves. Instead of gluing the staves flat side together, which is the most common, we join the staves by tongue and groove which are pressed together then glued. This allows up to 40% more surface area for the glue to bond, which prevents cracks from appearing later in time.

This method together with the best raw material provides an incredibly strong construction and a very long warranty of 30-years.

Surface treatment

STAIN + NATURAL LUXURY OIL
Luxury Oil Black and Luxury Oil Mocca is a surface treatment completed in two steps, finished at the factory before shipment. The stain penetrates the first few millimetres of the surface, which gives that lovely depth and richness to the wood, however this is effectively only skin deep, and the colour does not run throughout the solid wood. General maintenance is achieved by only using the neutral oil supplied in the service box.

Scratches and damage that penetrate through the stain, showing glimpses of the natural wood colour, can only be repaired with the enclosed touch-up repair-kit. It is not possible/recommended to sand the affected area on a stained worktop.

N.B. Stained worktops are NOT recommended in places with heavy and hard use. We do NOT recommend sinks in stained worktops.

River washed

Surface treatment River Washed

Our surface treatment ’river washed’ applies the very in trend textured and tactile finish. By washing away the softer fibres in between the hard grain, it certainly accentuates the true natural character and honesty of solid wood. Almost as though the item has been salvaged from drifting down river. This process is simply achieved by blasting particles of sand at the surface, and of course finished by hand at our factory in Vamdrup.

We recommend to use this surface especially for bartops, shelves, wall cladding etc. The surface treatment is especially beautiful in combination with i.e. granite, quartz stone, steel or ceramics.

N.B. Due to the nature of wood, (different hardnesses), we can never guarantee the exact depth of the structure, even when the treatment is the same. Sharp splinters can be felt, when river washed. Claims of this nature will not be warranted.

RIVER WASHED IS AVAILABLE ONLY IN SELECTED WOOD TYPES AND FOR A SURCHARGE

RIVER WASHED + LUXURY OIL NEUTRAL / WHITE / GREY / VINTAGE:
Ash + Heart Ash + Bavarian Safari + Brasilica Safari + Elm + Oak* + Oak Plank 80 mm* + Oak Rustique* + Wengé* +

RIVER WASHED + LUXURY OIL BLACK :
Heart Ash + Brasilica, Safari + Elm + Oak* + Oak Plank 80 mm*

*] Oak and Wengé both have an open grain structure that makes the surface more coarse when River Washed. This is not justifiable complaint.
